About the Couple:
Alex & Verity, the perfect couple.
Heyder & Shears were first introduced to Verity & Alex on a quick jaunt to Perth in 2013.
Verity is Perth born and bred; living in Canada with Alex, his home country. In 2015 they made the trip to Australia for their big day.
Event coordinator Lauren was overwhelmed by Alex’s organisation and how cool, calm yet concise Verity was. Lauren was able to turn their creative desires into reality as although they had fabulous ideas, transforming them and making them possible was the challenge that Lauren enjoyed most.
The wedding was held at Verity’s family property in Dwellingup, 1.5hrs south east of Perth.
A marquee was constructed, flooring laid, tables laid, kitchen built and a beautiful bar set for their party of 80 guests in the middle of the Dwellingup Forrest.
The ceremony was held on the jetty of the property’s lake, the most picturesque setting for the newlyweds to tie the knot.
After the ceremony frivolity commenced almost straight; away with lawn games, champagne, g+t’s and canapés of scallops, prawns and Dwellingup marron – the sun was perfectly setting, it was flawless.
Alex & Verity ventured into the Forrest for photos, taking with them a selection of canapés and drinks.
At dusk, guests were ushered into the beautifully lit marquee where dinner was served. It was all about shared eating for Alex & Verity. The aim was for the meal to bring everyone together, and that it did.
Speeches were the perfect amount of funny; relatable, memorable and there was a lot of love in the room. Her dad was hilarious.
It was then time for cheese; we gorged the tables with vintage wine barrel lids laden with wheels of cheese, candied clementine’s, dried muscatels, quince paste, fresh figs & beetroot lavosh. Of course we had drinks to match, dessert wines, port, cocktails & spirits – The perfect way to set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Dancing went until the early hours of the morning where guests then retired to the glamping tent provided on the property.
The following morning a glamorous breakfast was put on in the Forrest. Yoghurt, muesli, croissants, condiments and freshly cooked omelettes made to order, delicious. Alex mixed up Bloody Marys, Canadian style, whilst the staff served freshly brewed coffee to prepare everyone for the drive home.
How were Heyder & Shears involved?
Heyder & Shears weren’t just the caterer’s, we were the Event Manager. Alex & Verity booked the marquee and left the rest to us. We designed their menu and cocktail list, styled the tables and venue, liaised with lighting suppliers and booked all of the hire. Florals were set on the day by us whilst we transformed the blank space. Logistically we scheduled equipment deliveries, set-up crew’s, chefs, waitstaff travel, built a kitchen in a shed, hired cool rooms, operated generators and hung feature lighting, we cooked, we served, and we poured tirelessly. Lauren (Event Coordinator – Heyder & Shears) met with Alex & Verity back in 2013, she worked with them every step of the way, was the first on site to start piecing her jigsaw together and executed the wedding faultlessly. Lauren did not leave Dwellingup until she saw the now married couple leave for their honeymoon.
